BERGHEIM VFD NEWS – OCTOBER

Capital Campaign Update: Donations continue to come in at a steady pace. Check for dollar updates to the thermometers located at each mailbox station. Please take the time to donate if you haven’t already done so. Remember there is still plenty of time to contribute, and all donations are fully tax deductible. You can visit the Department’s website at www.bergheimvfd.org to donate through Pay Pal or mail a check (write “2012 Capital Campaign” in the memo section) to Bergheim VFD, P.O. Box 4141, Bergheim, TX 78004. We appreciate and need your support.

Upcoming Events: Mark your calendars and bring the whole family to Cordillera National Night Out on Tuesday, October 2nd from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the Club’s main dining room. The event is sponsored by the Cordillera Ladies’ Social Club and Men’s Group. Bergheim VFD will participate again this year and is planning a live interactive fire extinguisher demonstration. EVERYONE is invited!

From the Chief’s Desk: Bergheim VFD has responded to approximately 104 runs for the year – the call average for brush fires is still lower than last year due to some really good rains. The new tender, our first water on wheels truck, is still on schedule to arrive later this month. I look forward to seeing everyone at National Night Out on October 2.

FAQ of the Month:

Q: Why does a fire truck show up when EMS is called?

A: A fire truck generally shows up for emergencies to locations where EMS is called because the firefighters can provide first aid to assist the patient before the EMS arrive and extra manpower to assist EMS on scene. In some instances the fire department may arrive before the EMS unit and can stabilize the person(s) for EMS to transport.
